Production Technical Skill Development

Over the last two weeks, we have been learning about cinematography which is the study of camera shots, angles and focus of the camera.  Above are some of the camera shots that we have learnt about and in the video are some more camera shots and focuses. To take these images our small group went out around the college to gather these different camera shots, angles, and focus. To show what I have learnt I was tasked to make a tutorial on the camera shots, angles and focuses that our small group had gathered and said what angles they are. This research will help my group in the health project because it will help us tell the story better and engage the audience more.

I have learnt how to use the different camera settings, in terms of how to use the camera to get different focuses like the pull focus, and selective focus. Knowing this will help me in our new project because I can use the different angles, shots, and focuses to pull the audience into the story and knowing how to do the different focuses with the camera will help to pull the audience into the story.

Induction Video

What I learnt

During our induction project, I learnt some new skills that I didn't have before, these were using different camera settings which helped me to take photos and videos, setting up the tripod and dolly which help with getting smooth footage and trying some camera angles I didn't yet know about and how to organize a crew and cast which I had some knowledge of but with this project I developed this skill further. This knowledge, it will help in further projects as I now know how to deal with filming on a busy campus which is to film when lunch is over and everyone is in class and how to deal with filming when the weather is against us which is not a big problem if the project has indoor footage needed that can be done while it is raining.

Short Western

With this short western video we did it help my to use the different camera angles and shots to attract the audience, it has also help me to be more organized with my projects. I have learnt to be more organized with the short western which i can overlap onto my other projects. Working with other was great especially because I knew some of the people I was working with so it was better to communicate with them but I also got to meet new people and made new friends. Next time I would make a storyboard for the project and a camera shots/angles list and take it with me when I go out to get photos or footage.

 Research

I was encouraged to make a radio advert to help develop my sound editing skills and practice using adobe audition in case I decided to make a radio advert for any of my projects.
