Interpreting the brief

The client

Our client is a camera company called Canon, they have launched a new camera and their campaign theme for this new product line will be called 'Journeys'. This is to emphasize how photography can be used creatively by itself or in combination with other art, design or media.
Our client would like us to produce a front cover for a Canon advertorial magazine which promotes the new camera and a print advert or advertorial to be included in the magazine. These innovative products will respond to the camera product line and target the new target audience. Our primary target audience is young adults aged 15-25 and our aim is to encourage young people to form a brand allegiance to Canon equipment and services. This magazine will be available from all Canon-affiliated retailers to attract consumers to photography and Canon products through entertaining advertorial content.

My Initial Idea

For my canon project, I have been tasked with creating a front cover for a magazine promoting the new camera and a print advert/advertorial to go in the magazine. My idea for the front cover is to take a range of photos with the camera, these could be anything, and then put the into a collage showing all of the different photos I have taken. My idea for the print advert/advertorial is to show a journey that you can take within witchcraft, some of the topics I have thought I could do for the product are: opening your third eye (chakra), a journey in crystals and a journey in tarot card reading or even all three.

Potential Constraints

With this project, I have to consider a couple of possible constraints. These are weather and equipment. Weather is a possible constraint because sometimes the weather in England can be good at one point and then bad at another point, so when it comes to taking my photos I will have to check the weather to make sure that it is going to be sunny or decent weather all day. This is so that my cast and crew will not get ill if we go out into bad weather and with good weather I can get decent lighting in the photos I take. Another possible constraint for this project is the equipment, as by the time I am ready to start taking my photos it will be the college half-term holiday, so I will have to see if I can book a camera to take home over the holiday but if I can't, I can use Katie's camera as we are working together for this project or I could even use my phone if Katie's camera is unavailable as we will be going out together when it is time to take out photos.
