Evaluation

Here, is the first section of my project that I did. To start my project I research the client to gain more knowledge about the NHS. This allowed me to better understand who the NHS is and the values it abides by. This newfound knowledge of the NHS will help me to better structure how I will design my advert and leaflet and how I put the values of the NHS into my work.

After researching the client, I decided to look into some of the previous campaigns that the NHS have done. To better understand their style of advertisement, I could start to think about how I am going to make my products and what they will look like while also trying to make a unique product to make people want to quit smoking. With this knowledge, I was also able to think about what direction I wanted to take my advert, this was because I had a choice of making a campaign about smoking cessation, eating healthy or getting active. After a day or two of thinking about the topic I wanted to base my campaign on, I put a huge amount of time into researching the topic I chose for my campaign which was quitting smoking as I have a few family members that smoke and I see the impacts it is having on them so I wanted to do the quitting smoking topic as I was personal to me.

After making my decision, I need to look into the audience I would be making my adverts for. This will allow me to understand the areas I need to focus on for my TV advert and leaflet. This also allowed me to start creating my initial ideas for my advert and leaflet which will make it easier to keep on track with the topic I decided to do and help me figure out how I will inspire my target audience to quit smoking.

In my NHS Better Health TV advert and leaflet, I made sure that I used a range of different camera angles in my scenes with a purpose such as close-ups, two shots, medium shots, big close-up shots and several more. My final goal before the production of this TV advert was to have many different shots and make sure that it is edited to a high standard. I also used a range of shot sizes in different scenes to improve the TV advert. I also tried to make my advert as informative as my leaflet as I wanted to inform people about the struggles of smoking. I tried to make the audio authentic and realistic to draw the audience in. As well as using a range of camera angles and sizes, in my TV advert I used some music which is non-diegetic sound so that the advert wasn't silent and depressing, I also used some voiceovers for the fact sheets which are also non-diegetic sound. For some of the voiceovers, I wanted my actor to change their tone of voice so that it would empower the titles of the fact sheets and the slogan at the end of the advert.

The schedules were one of the most important parts of this project that helped me tremendously in the process of completing it. By doing this, I was able to keep on track with the project and even ahead of it, so when the project was due, there would be no issues with the hand-in once the deadline came around. I would also not have the stress of not reaching the deadline on time or having to ask for overtime. With these schedules, I was able to stay organised throughout the project.

Whilst, making my prototype work, I gathered audience feedback to get the opinion on the current drafts, and so that when I got to the final product I would be confident that it is at the highest standard it could possibly be and I would be able to make any edited any issues people had with my drafts on my TV advert and leaflet. This proved to be useful as after editing some of the target audience's key issues, the TV advert and leaflet were successful in informing people about the effects and benefits of smoking.

Furthermore, in my next project, I will be more organised and plan my time more successfully than I did in this project, as this time I need to change my schedule a few times because we were filming over the winter season and the weather was really bad, so next time I will make sure I have a backup plan in place just in case the weather is against us. Another key factor I need to make sure I do better on next time is to have a backup plan in case the cast or crew is not available for filming due to illness or last minutes emergencies, I will make sure I have something else to work on until I can get the photos/footage with the cast or crew that were off.

Overall, I have learnt several new skills during my project which include new editing skills, developing organising skills and the importance of audience feedback. I believe that I have met the NHS brief requirements as I have produced a high-quality TV advert and leaflet using the research I have done on NHS (their values and beliefs). All of the research that I have done is all accurate as it is information that the NHS has published themselves so I know it is all accurate.
